Course Description:
The course is designed to offer practicing vascular surgeons with information regarding the latest technology available in vascular surgery to address a gap in knowledge that exists for practicing surgeons and staff post residency training. The outcome will be increased knowledge, better competency in cutting edge treatment modalities, enhanced treatment decision-making. It is the expressed goal of the course to provide enough material so that at the end of the course the participant can make educated decisions in the latest pharmacologic, radiologic, surgical and endovascular techniques and technologies and when these treatments are justified and when they are not.
Who Should Attend:
This course is designed to offer practicing vascular surgeons and vascular specialists with information regarding the latest technology available in vascular surgery to address a gap in knowledge that exists for practicing vascular surgeons and vascular fellows in training. This course will provide the community vascular surgeon with an update on Arteries and Veins to improve their ability to care for patients who present with vascular disease of arteries and veins and allow an exchange of information and contacts with national and international artery and vein experts (Vascular surgeons). It provides CME credits and presents the latest of techniques as delivered by experts in their field.
Objectives:
Upon completion of the Congress, the participants should be able to:
• Synthesize and apply into practice information about the latest technologies, techniques and data from clinical trials for endovascular repair of AAAs and thoracic and aortic disease
• Recall and communicate with peers and patients about the latest data, techniques and technologies for carotid disease management
• List and describe many of the latest developments in pharmacologic agents for the management of vascular disease
• Assess the latest state-of-the-art for the treatment of superficial femoral and tibial artery disease
• Have strategies to integrate information about the treatment of venous disease including recognize the importance of iliofemoral DVT vs. infra inguinal DVT.
• Recognize importance of disobliteration of major pulmonary embolism
• Know the most current techniques in the treatment of veins and arteries
• Understand the updated indications for treatment selection
• Recognize the complexity of the treatment of veins and arteries so as to make the best diagnosis for treatment
Accreditation Statement:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the FORE and International Society for Vascular Surgery. FORE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
FORE designates this live activity for a maximum of 18.5AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
UEMS/EACCME CME Credit Recognition:
The American Medical Association (AMA) has an agreement of mutual recognition of continuing medical education (CME) credit with the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS). Under the terms of this agreement, the AMA will convert CME credit for live activities certified by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), the accrediting arm of the UEMS, to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians (MDs, DOs or equivalent international degree) may have their EACCME credit converted to AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM by applying to the AMA.
Poster Abstract Competion Commences March 11, 2012
Your oral presentation for the ISVS Poster Competition should not exceed 3 minutes. ISVS judges will select the best posters and award the following prizes: 1st ($1,000), 2nd ($500), and 3rd ($250) place along with an ISVS Certificate. ISVS will not reimburse for any travel, hotel or other expenses for the poster abstract competition. You must be present and registered to attend (no exceptions)to receive your award. Refund Policy: FORE office of Continuing Medical Education reserves the right to cancel the program due to unforeseen circumstance, in which the full enrollment fee will be refunded.
The FORE CME Office or ISVS will not be responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participant in case of cancellation. Without exception, refunds minus a $200 cancellation fee will be given up to 60 days prior to the start of the activity.
